Here it is, the beginning of a new year and like everyone else,  I long for the heat of summer and the excitement of the race track. During the long cold winter, I anticipate the sights and the smells of being at the race track that every true race fan will appreciate!  I recently had the opportunity to talk with Chuck Lachance and to find out how he first got into what has turned out to be quite a successful hobby.     Full Story

Race Recap from Wiscasset Raceway

The 50 lap feature for the Clark's Car Crushing Prostocks went to Cushing's Chuck Lachance. In the process he became the division's first repeat winner. The race featured several cautions highlighted by  an incident between leaders Chuck Colby and Bill Penfold on lap 42. Lachance, who had been running in the top five the entire race, would inherent the lead when Colby retaliated for Penfold taking the lead from him a lap earlier. As the cars went spinning into turn one and two, point leader Randy Turner was collected as well. Lachance went on to secure the victory in his #38 Fuller Automall sponsored ride, holding off a handful of drivers to the checkers. Winterport's Ryan Deane picked up his best Wiscasset finish by taking second. Livemore's Scott King started the race back in 18th and worked his way up toward the front only to be collected in an incident in turn three. With the right side body panels torn from his car he picked his way back into the lead pack and brought the car home in 3rd place, just beating out Charlie Colby and Randy Turner in a tight battle in the final three laps. SHAW & LACHANCE HIGHLIGHT BUSY WEEKEND AT THE CENTER OF SPEED
by Ken Minott

Nobody could beat the weather Sunday afternoon, but DJ Shaw managed to beat the field in a rain shortened main event at Wiscasset Raceway to capture his first career PASS Super Late Model win. Rain moved into the midcoast region at around 3:20pm just as the 31 car field completed 98 laps in the Steel's Real Rod's and Customs 125 at Maine's Center of Speed. With no end to the rain in sight and a subsequent delay of nearly an hour, the race was called and Shaw declared the winner.      Full  Story
